Job Description


The Computer-Aided Dispatch/Automatic Vehicle Location Technologist is responsible for installation, maintenance, salvage, and inventory of our Intelligent Transit System’s vehicular hardware and software components.

•         Monitor and maintain the Avail / Transit Master ITS CAD/AVL vehicle equipment and software configuration on all revenue and non-revenue fleets.

•         Manage inventory of all proprietary CAD/AVL hardware, as well as related general hardware.

•         Perform installation, maintenance, salvage, troubleshooting, and repair of such equipment.

•         Follow standardized procedures for warranty returns, tracking, and receipt of proprietary hardware.

•         Manage all proprietary CAD/AVL mobile software versions and configurations, including upgrades.

•         Use proprietary back-end software applications for system monitoring and hardware troubleshooting.

•         Document all installation, salvage, troubleshooting, and repair efforts.

•         Follow standardized procedures for bench testing equipment reported as faulty.


Job Requirements


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.

•         Associates degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent training and work experience in computer information systems, computer information technology, or related field required.

•         Two years of installation of electronic systems experience is preferred.

•         Comp TIA A+ certification or two (2) years of equivalent work experience.

•         Two years of experience with digital and analog radio transmission/receipt protocols, hardware, and configuration is preferred.

•         Motorola mobile radio and/or wireless access device training or equivalent experience is desired.

•         Intermediate understanding of vehicle electrical schematics.

•         Basic wireless network proficiency.

•         Basic proficiency with computers, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, the Internet, complex spreadsheets and information systems.

•         Ability to prioritize and manage tasks and time effectively; flexibility is required.

•         Highly organized with the ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail.
